How Much Can I Save by Buying Floors through a Wholesaler
One of the biggest expenses that you will incur if you are renovating your house is on the floors. While new floors can be very expensive there are ways that you can lower the cost substantially. The best of these is to buy the flooring material from a wholesaler rather than a retailer, it will save you a great deal on the cost of materials.
A lot of people wonder just how much they can save by getting their new flooring from a wholesaler rather than a retailer.
This can be a bit tricky to answer since there are a lot of things that you have to consider when you buy your floors this
way. As a general rule wholesalers offer their product to retailers at about half the price that the retailer would charge
the customer. However in order to take advantage of these prices you will have other expenses involved that you need to consider as part of the price.
The first thing that you have to add to the price of Wholesale hardwood flooring is the fact that in most cases to buy from a wholesaler you are going to have to have a membership card. This is something that you have to pay for and in most cases unless you buy a lot of flooring it probably won't be worthwhile. There are ways to get around this, if for example you know a contractor who installs flooring he probably already has a card and can make the purchase for you. Whether he does this for free is a matter between the two of you. The other option is to look for factory clear-out sales which wholesalers have from time to time to get rid of extra merchandise. This is an opportunity for the public to buy from the wholesaler but the prices will be a little bit above those that are charged to retailers. That's fine though, because of the money you still save you can still buy hardwood floors that are high-end and easy to maintain.
The next thing that you have to think about when you are buying flooring from a wholesaler is that you will need to buy extra flooring. The reason for this is that when you are buying wholesale you get it as is, which means there may be some damage to some of the boards. Therefore you need to make sure that you get a little bit extra just in case. In most cases you will not be able to get a few extra boards if you run out so you need to be sure that you will have enough.
So how much can you save buying floors wholesale? The answer of course varies particularly as to how you get access to the wholesaler. If you have a contractor friend who will do you a favor you will save more than somebody who doesn't. As a rule of thumb you should probably expect to save about a third.
