Our Volunteer
Advocacy Program begins with a screening process, followed
by a required 40-hour training course. A passion to help others,
willingness to advocate for victims of abuse, commitment to
volunteer service and a strong understanding of confidentiality are
required. Duties may include: answering the crisis line,
accompanying clients to court, co-facilitating support groups, court
watch, child care, office work, presentations, fund raising, public
relations, and working with advocates and counselors.

The Court
Watch Program allows volunteers to attend domestic
violence-related court hearings and trials, inclusive of criminal
court and civil court activities. Our mission is to provide
support to those who are victims of abuse throughout criminal
proceedings (bail hearings, progress calls, trials, sentencing,
etc.) and civil actions (divorce proceedings, child custody cases,
paternity issues, etc.) The Court Watch Program encourages presence
in the courtroom as a show of support for victims and as a symbol of
the community's intolerance for abuse.

Awareness Although the mission of the program is to provide
direct services to survivors of domestic abuse, CHOICES, is a social
change agency striving to make a difference in the community through
education. We provide professional training and public
education to spread the word against domestic violence. Call
